After a few hours from the end of a rain
shower, the resulting moderately wet surface can be considered as tolerable for starting
the water proofing work. Total drying of the surface is not necessary. However, stagnant
water must not be present on the surface. A few hours of sun shine will provide more
favourable conditions for a good water-proofing.
1. For sealing up the general porosity of
all sorts of absorbent surfaces, the first treatment of our Polymetallic Compound, PROFIL
ASP must be given as directed.
2. After the above treatment is cured,
washed with water and dried to a reasonable extent as stated above, proceed with the final
treatment of WETSIL ASP. Shake the container of WETSIL ASP very well.
Take out the material as required in a plastic bowl. Add to it Asbestos or Talc powder as
necessary and mix it very well to obtain a mediumly loose puttv. Do not prepare a thick
putty for effective filling of the cracks. Now wet the clean cracks by touching with a
little WETSIL using narrow brushes. Fill up all broad & deep cracks
with the loose putty by pressing in with a piece of wooden or metal sheet and level the
fillings with the surface. Stick over the putty-filled cracks, long strips of thin cotton
cloth previously soaked with WETSIL. If necessary, touch a little more
material to fix the cotton strips pretty well with the concrete surface. To seal up the
regions having very fine hair-thin cracks and the regions having extensive water seepage,
prepare a slurry by adding about 100 gms of any of the said two filler powders to
each one litre of WETSIL and give a thorough coatinq with nylon brushes
over those regions.
With this, the job of water-proofing is complete.
COVERAGE
1 Litre of WETSIL is enough to coat about 30/35 Sq. Ft. area of the
concrete surface.
NOTES
(1) For doing water-proofinq in an urgent need, the treatment of POROFIL ASP stated under
1 above may be dropped. In such an event, a direct water-proofing with WETSIL ASP alone
can be carried out.
(2) At the end of water-proofing, quickly wash out the used brushes with a plenty of
water.
(3) Do not keep WETSIL ASP open to the air except when taken out for use.
