INTRODUCTION

Through extensive experiments conducted over several years, our R&D Laboratory has successfully developed this unique Co.polymer plastic-based liquid Water-proofing Compound for water-proofing the seeping I.P.S., China-mosaic, tiled & plain plastered terrace surfaces of buildings, A.C.Sheet roofs, concrete water-storage tanks, underground vaults, cellars & silos, swimming pools etc. On completion of development, the product was first subject to exhaustive testing in the Laboratory in respect of its physical & chemical properties. Subsequently. it was put to the actual field tests for evaluating its capability to stand against the drastic weathering conditions such as, solar radiations, heat, cold, rains etc and for abrasion resistance tests against the continued usage of the treated surfaces. Having been satisfied on these test counts, it was placed in the field of commercial water-proofing for full five years and to-day in view of its giving a result-oriented performance of preventing the water seepage, it is well accepted as a genuine Water-proofer.

PROPERTIES & FEATURES:

1.

This is a Single-pack Water-proofing system. SIPSIL ASP does not requires addition of a Hardener /Catalyst at the time of use, as it is necessary in the case of Epoxy a Polyurethane classes of Compounds.

2.

SIPSIL ASP is a penetrative sealant. While a coating of the viscous liquid material is given over the dry seeping concrete surface, it penetrates through absorption into the hair-thin cracks & pores in the surface and forms plastic laminates & tentacles (fibers) into them which cannot be uprooted. This means, when the surface coating of SIPSIL ASP and even the cloth strips stuck over the putty- filled cracks get worn out through abrasion on prolonged use of the treated surface, the water-proofing is never damaged inspite of these ravages.

3.

The water-proofing treatment can be conveniently carried out even in mid-monsoon periods during the days of dry spell, ofcourse strictly subject to the moisture-free condition of the surface.

4.

The resultant Co.polymer plastic possesses fibro-elastic properties and assures no cracking, self-peeling, degeneration or decay on prolonged aging.

5.

The sealing plastic material of SIPSIL ASP stands very well against the effects of 80% Sulfuric Acid, 30/32% Hydro- choleric Acid, 104 Nitric Acid, strong Soda Ash & weak Caustic solutions and against the effects of several Organic Acids & Bases.

6.

The heat tolerance temperature of the plastic laminate is about 125 – 130 degC.

7.

The treatment prevents the growth of fungus, moss, algae and other vegetative as well as microbial life on the treated surface.

8.

The treatment is smooth & clean and causes no increase weight on the surface.
9.

COVERAGE: One 1itre of SIPSIL ASP or its slurry with the Filler powder can give one coating over about 30/35 Sq.Ft. area on the concrete surface, ofcourse depending on the extent of roughage. Just one coat is enough.

METHOD OF APPLICATION

A. PRE-TREATMENT

For doing systematic water-proofing, give the first treatment of our Polymetallic, pore-sealant Compound, POROFIL ASP, before giving the final treatment of SIPSIL ASP. Clean the surface and the broad cracks free from dust  scratching with steel pokers 5 steel wire brushes. Also clean off all the residues of previous water-proofing, if any. Apply on the clean and dry surface One volume of POROFIL ASP diluted with Two volumes of water using nylon brushes. Allow to cure the treatment for atleast 24 hours. Then wash down the treated surface very well by flushing with plenty of water. Sweep off the water- washings from the surface. Allow the well washed surface to dry completely and then proceed with the final treatment of SIPSIL ASP detailed as under. This pre-treatment given with POROFIL ASP cannot seal the broad & narrow cracks on the surface it only seals up the finest pores in the surface.

However, in the case of an emergency, a direct water- proofing using SIPSIL ASP alone can also be performed.

B. FINAL TREATMENT

If the surface is not given the above Pre-treatment, clean it as explained. If the Pre-treatment is given, proceed as following.

Make sure, that the surface is completely dry and free from moisture before starting the SIPSIL treatment. Shake the container of SIPSIL very well. First wet the clean broad cracks with SIPSIL ASP before filling the Putty. Then fill up all the so wetted broad cracks with Putty prepared by mixing SIPSIL ASP with required quantity of Asbestos powder or Talc powder . Over the putty-filled cracks, stick up lengthwise narrow strips of ordinary thin cotton cloth by touching with a little extra SIPSIL as necessary. These cloth strips are necessary only till the putties filled in the cracks are dried and cured. Finally over the entire terrace surface. give a uniform coating of SIPSIL ASP slurried with 10 to 15S of Asbestos or Talc powder. Fine hair-thin cracks on the surface, in which putties cannot he filled, are effectively sealed up with the coating of this SIPSIL-Powder slurry. The treatment dries out during about one hour. Falling of rain or water after drying does not damage the treatment. With this, the water-proofing work is complete.

While water proofing Mosaic tiled terrace surface, do not give the coating of SIPSIL-Powder slurry over the entire surface as is given in the case of I.P.S. or plain plastered surface. On tiled terrace surface, first give the treatment with POROFIL ASP solution, described as above, on the entire surface and after curing, washing drying the surface, just fill up the broken tile-joints and the cracks of broken tiles with the SIPSIL-Powder Putty prepared as above.

If recurrence of leakage is reported in the treated surface, do not use POROFIL ASP at all for the repairs. Just give a good coating of the SIPSIL Powder slurry, prepared as above, only over the local areas of recurrent seepage to bring to a stop.

Notes
(i) Quickly wash the used brushes with our Thinner or Xylene solvent.
(ii) The self-life period of SIPSIL ASP ’s about one year or even more, if kept in tightly packed conditions. SIPSIL ASP can become viscous & thick due to solvent-loss on prolonged storage or through improper capping of the containers. In such case, add our special Thinner or Xylene solvent to thin it again as required. The users will be provided with our special Thinner as per their need.

CAUTION !!!
Do not use SIPSIL ASP for doing water-proofing in non-ventilated or poorly- ventilated conditions. The solvent vapours can suffocate the workmen and even cause fire or explosion on sparking. For doing water-proofing under such poorly ventilated conditions, such as of water-storage tanks, cellars & silos, use our POROFIL ASP & WETSIL ASP Compounds which can do water proofing even over slightly wet or moist surfaces.
