It has been a long felt need of Civil Construction Industry for such materials which can stop Efflorescence (so called ’LOONA’ or ’KHARA’ ) in walls and also prevent the darkening of outside wall surfaces caused by the growth of moss & fungus. A few years back, we had developed a promising Compound to meet these requirements and placed in the market as INTERFEROL AF under our old company, Build-Aid Chemicals. However, this very material INTERFEROL AF is now rename as POROFIL ASP and placed in the market under our new Firm M/s. ANTI-CORROSION & SEALANT PRODUCTS. This material has been duly tested and authenticated by the Civil Engineering Division at the University of ROORKEE (U.P. )

POROFIL ASP solution can be applied over humid or slightly wet concrete ’ surfaces but not over a surface having continuous oozing of water from within. The result is excellent if applied on a completely dry surface.

The surface. as soon as treated with POROFIL solution, becomes quickly water-repellent and non-absorbant to water. Hence, second application of the solution cannot be made over the same surface.

The POROFIL treatment cannot seal cracks in the surface; it only seals up the general porosity in the surface. It does not produce any visible coating on the surface. Being a penetrative sealant, it seals up all the finest pores in the concrete surface with the insoluble, microfine Metalloids which precipitate and settle into the pores during curing.

At the end of curing, it is a must to wash down the alkaline chemical by flushing with plenty of water over the treated surface.

The treated surface shows such a strong repelling action to water that if poured or sprinkled over the surface, it runs down the surface without absorption and adhesion, just as it rolls down like shining pearls off the lotus leaves .

The sealing of pores in the concrete surface with POROFIL is mighty, strong and stands firm against the rupturing forces of Capillarity and Osmotic pressure exerted by water acting upon it. It can be damaged only by a stroke or such mechanical injury produced on the treated surface

The treated surface, after some period, shows a decrease in water-repellency but its non-absorbancy of water is very much retained over several years.

Spray of POROFIL solution over the coloured coatings of Lime and Snowcem on walls does not discolour the coatings. The spray strengthens the bonding and makes the colour coatings water-repellent and water-proof.

The over-spray of POROFIL solution on Lime & Snowcem wall coatings prevents the growth of fungus, moss, algae and other vegetative life and consequently, the blackening of wall surface is also prevented.

The strong acid inert Metalloids of POROFIL fixed into the pores are not affected by strong acids & alkalies and they also withstand very high temperatures.

On the wall surfaces, previously treated with POROFIL ASP solution,
(i) Plastic Emulsion Paints, Oil Paints, Oil-bound Distemper and Wall-papers can stick with ease. This pre-treatment of POROFIL makes the wall water-proof and prevents the peeling of coatings & wall-paper
(ii) Water-based coatings of Lime. Water-bound Distempers and Snowcem cannot stick. Hence in these cases, first the coatings of the materials are given on the wall surface and finally they are over-sprayed with POROFIL solution as specified.

COVERAGE: One litre of the diluted POROFIL solution gives a coverage of about 30/35 Sq. Ft. area of concrete terrace surfaces by brush application, ofcourse depending on the roughage; and about 40/45 Sq. Ft. area on wall surfaces by spray application.

The material is a clear, water-soluble liquid. At the time of use, it has to be diluted by adding specified quantities, of water, depending on its different uses. The dilute solution when applied on dry & porous concrete & wall surfaces get evenly absorbed into the finest pores in the surface. The treatment undergoes complete curing during a period of about 24 hours. The Metal Complexes in the absorbed solution catch up air during curing and dissociate to liberate highly insoluble & inert, microscopic Metalloids which settle into the finest pores and strongly seal them up. This treatment completely seals up all the finest pores in the surface upto the depth to which the solution is absorbed. At the end of curing, a strongly alkaline chemical bye-product comes out over the treated surface. This alkaline water-soluble chemical being injurious to other coating materials to be applied over, it has got to be thoroughly washed off the treated surface by flushing with plenty of water.

CAUTION !!!
Take care to avoid spilling of the strongly alkaline POROFIL solution in the eyes. If it falls in the eyes, quickly wash down the eyes with lot of water and consult an Eye Doctor.
