The rusted torsteel bars and the plain bars can be cleaned
manually by merely scraping with steel-wire burshes or scrapers to get rid of the loose
rust scales and superficial rust films off the rusted bar surface. However, for cleaning
large quantities of rusted bars, the bars are passed through the centres of a mechanically
revolving device consisting of three or more steel-wire brushes to get rid of the oxide
scales & films off the bar surface. Strongly stuck rust scales left over the bar
surface even after cleaning create no problem in the application of coatings of our
Product. The application is made by ei
ther
of the following two methods.
1. IMMERSION APPLICATION:
Immerse the clean and dry torrsteel/plain bars into a hemi-cylindrical channel or shallow
pan through containing the well mixed Primer, TORRPRIM ASP. Keep the bars immersed just
for ONE minute into the Primer. Lift the bars a while to allow to drain down the excess
Primer. Allow these Primer- coated bars to dry for about 6 to 8 hours in open air at
room-temperature. Then give TWO coatings, each at a drying interval of 6 to 8 hours, of
the actual Coating Compound, TORRCOTE ASP, over the dry Primer-coated bars by this very
Immersion method. Note: Even though dislocation of the green Pigment takes place in the
final coating during draining after immersion, the coating of the entire bar surface is
complete.
2. MANUAL APPLICATION: The
coating of the Primer as well as of TORRCOTE ASP The Rust guard can also
be given over the cleaned dry bars manually by brush applications, if so desired by the
user.
Notes:
(i) After 24 hours of drying, the coating becomes hard and the bars become transportable.
(ii) The residual reaction of
polymerisation through cross-linkages still continues even in the dried coatings for about
six days until the total polymerisation is complete.
(iii) The container channels, troughs as
well as the brushes should be cleaned with our Thinner or with the commercial quality,
Xylene available in the chemical markets. Our thinner will be supplied to the users as per
their need.
CAUTION !!!
Since the Primer & the Coating Compound are solvent-based, it is imperatively
advised that the coating operations should not be conducted in non-ventilated or poorly
venti- lated locations to avoid suffocation to the workmen.
